A change of pace
17 days elapsed.. number of posts... none.

Yes it does seem that my blogging lacks staying power. Why... one word "Twitter".

The microblog is emminently more suited to my deminishing mental capacities (getting old now guys, 38 this year lol) and poor grammatical skills.

twitter.com/ahremsee

That is the address you'll find my daily ramblings, assuming @stephenfry doesn't cause the whole system to gridn to a halt with is 200K followers *8^)

So what will become of the blog I hear you ask... Please... Someone... ask me!

I think what I'll do is throttle back on the posts here and just comment on the stuff that seems worth commenting on. I have a few projects on the go.
Then there's the stuff I'm doing with the kids. Phoebe is really into Origami at the moment, so I'll probably share some of the patterns we're building. I might get her into building the platonic solids too now that we've found a great supplies store in Cardiff. Samuel on the other hand still loves his trains, so if I can find a decent app for generating BRIO tracks then we'll be well away and I'm sure there'll be a few of them uploaded.

I might throw in a little more Doctor Who if I don't freeze my arse off cathing the laste night filming.

Snow day.
No school today and after watching some of the cars failing to get out of the estate I elected to stay at home myself.

No, wait... I work from home, bugger no day off for me.

After listening to RedDragon FM for what seemed like an eternity (I can't do commercial radio anymore) the announcement came out that the kids school was shut for the day. That along with 600 others I hear.

So the kids got dressed up and played out in the garden, whilst I sat in my garage office dreaming up a spec for changes to one of our products. I don't think I'm allowed to tell you what that is sorry. Nothing too hush-hush but we do like to keep secrets at interchangegroup.com.

I did notice on the BBC (before starting work) that the same woman reporter was left out in the snow again today. Yes, I know she goes inside between reports but they do make it look almost like she's been out there for about 36 hours in the same coat and scarf. (Note: they got someone else involved for the 10'o'clock news, perhaps whilst they defrost that poor woman).

Placeholder: when I get to a PC I'll upload some snowy photos of the kids to flickr.

The snow is here, everybody stop!
Cripes, the snow is here and the whole world seems to get on with it but the UK grinds to a halt.
What is it with this country? Well I'll tell you.

The UK has Snowy weather so infrequently, spending money on an infrastructure to deal with heavy snow is just not worth it.

I for one am enjoying the snow this time around. My daily commute to the office (for office read garage) was in need of little extra excitement. Sam however is LOVING the snow as this is the first time he's been old enough to enjoy it. The forecast is for more snow overnight and I'm looking forward to watching all the cars trying to get out of the street (up a slight hill) in the morning.

Finally for today I have to share something that Phoebe told me as she was getting ready for bed. "Daddy, without any greenhouse gasses our planet would freeze.". I was quite gobsmacked. Proud and gobsmacked at the same time. I've just realised that they're repeating the catastrophe series on Saturdays on more4. I'll have to Sky+ it for her and so she can see the snowball earth one. Do you think she's two young to grasp Sunday's programme on Charles Darwin?

Compare and contrast
Compared with yesterday's lounging, I think we can say today was positively energetic.
Though not ideal as the kids woke us at 7am... yes 7am on a Sunday. I thought we'd managed to get them to amuse themselves rather than waking us but I think we kinda used our quota for the week on Saturday morning.

So what did we do with out early Sunday start? We all wrapped up and had "at" the garden for a bit. So whilst Sally and I set about tidying and moving stuff around, the kids had a great time smashing the various sheets of ice they found.

Sam bless him managed to stick 2 hrs in near sub-zero temperatures, making mud pies, finding stones and digging for treasure. Phoebe on the other hand took the girly option and headed into the house after 45 mins. Still they both worked up enough of an appetite to polish off their dinner, which is not something that happens very often in this house.

We've been showing off Phoebe's air guitar to all and sundry too, which prompts me to redress the balance and upload another video, this time of Sam (which Sally "found" on her phone yesterday).

BTW, our Wii-Fit at the moment is not in use, but sits waiting (nay pining) underneath the TV stand. It was a great idea when we bought it but I fear that as I'm the only member of the family that wants to go anywhere near it, it'll languish in plain view for a while yet.

The thing that IS getting a lot of use at the moment, is Sam's collection of train bits. Both Brio and his Thomas & Cranky set. I'm getting quite good at dreaming up layouts for the former but if someone could come up with a Brio track designer for windows I'm sure I'd pay good money for it.

My final though tonight as I post this at 11.15 is get your arses onto BBC iPlayer. Find the Sir Richard Attenborough show on Charles Darwin and watch it. Start to finish.. and marvel at anyone who still believes in any of the "Facts" that the Bible gives us. Sure the sentiment in the Bible is great but I could get that same sentiment from The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.
