I was reading a post from a good friend of mine recently, where they had managed to scoop a photograph of the new interior designs for the TARDIS. This new design will be seen in the next series of Doctor Who to be aired in April 2010 and is part of a raft of changes; New Lead Writer/Exec Producer, New production team, New Doctor, New Companion and of source the New TARDIS.
The scoop I had read centered around parts of the props used to construct the TARDIS. Some of you may be surprised to hear that the old blue box is not shipped as one piece but assembled on site from a "flat-pack" kit. What you may find even more surprising is that most of the time, there will be a false panel built into the box structure, which contains a photograph of the interior of the TARDIS. This photograph is back-lit, so that when the artists walk through the doors of the time machine and into the console room, there is an impression of there actually being a large expanse behind them. This apparently saves the production team a fortune in CGI costs too.
This got me thinking about how they went about making this panel and it didn't take me long to realise I could probably make one myself.
This article then, is my first attempt at making my own large print of this...
...the inside of the current (at time of writing) TARDIS.
